Affirming Motherhood
I love you mom, and can't do without you,
You always reiterated that God's promise is true.
You raised three men with nerves of steel,
Who never went hungry for lack of a meal.
You taught me courage in a world that was new,
A child's heart has too many tears, you'd always sew.
A bond more significant than the invention of the wheel,
You taught me how to forgive and how to feel.
I came to know happiness and in contentment I grew,
A sacrifice consistent like the morning dew.
The mind is fragile and you taught us to deal,
Daddy passed away and I had to heal.
I dreamt of greatness whenever planes flew,
Christians abound but the truthful are few.
God paints our lives and the paint can't peel,
You helped me up his ladder with incomparable zeal.
In this limited world you're my best friend,
Overcoming oneself is our one and only essential trend.
A friend who cares and always understands,
Transforming everything with your gifted hands.
Success and joy are all love intends,
A kindred spirit to support and defend.
Tolerance and acceptance are all life demands,
Alongside all that God commands.
Love and friendship in a fortuitous blend,
I had too many questions and an ear you would lend.
Support with compassion instead of luxury brands,
Tenderness flies as the falcon lands.
Absolute love in a life that will never end.
You have nurtured me and I must commend,
A shoulder to lean on wherever I stand,
