Only For The Facade
I put up with individualism and that is only for the facade,
We must get over Trump and we must put a clean label on Assad,
I need a dream for my pain and I only dream murderous,
I thrive in the Savannah in a counterculture so wondrous.
There is something for the poor and something for pretense,
The facade cooks up happiness in a lie so intense,
Surrealism speaks in smiles and Lucifer must sit on the fence,
There is barely room for materialism in a hatred so dense.
I only have benzos for the myth we call defence,
I have clear vision for goodness and obstinacy is my good lens.
I have answers for your pain and method acting for your gain,
I believe in a cruel form of love that loves and leaves no stain,
I have marijuana for the convert and snuff for all the cheats.
I came up in abusive pain with a daring wild and neat,
Poetry is not for emptiness; they all smile when we meet,
Pride is for the strong and humility is a poor receipt.
We have doubt for clarity and faith to numb deceit.
None believe in false love and nothing remains the same.
I play purely for keeps and I maintain my grip on The Game,
I have a mask for the facade and wit on the side,
Dreadlocks for hope and hedonism for the ride,
And loneliness only points to the turning of the tide.
Genius borne in sacrifice is the face of success bonafide,
I keep illegal drugs and pertinent confidence wherever I lay,
Drugs for the facade and confidence for my way,
I can't turn my back on the slum where crime will play,
There is insurrection for false hopes and for the phantoms I slay,
These hills mean nothing and I want you to stay.
