From My Mind's Eye

He got down on one knee and studied the ant colony,
The fiery fire ants could leave one in agony.
Some humans only live to poison our harmony,
I would smoke all day on the penthouse balcony;
To be aloof and to discover what life meant.
Smoking had me crippled with an emphysema dent,
Looking back, it's absurd how much I spent.
I did away with shillings and stuck with sense.
This broken heart haunted me wherever I went.
I gave up socializing and grew in awareness;
"Live and enjoy your life; this recluse could care less."
Life is an open book and the man who dares is best.
My only dilemma was which mask I should wear next.
An articulate natural, Maureen would sing effortlessly.
My first bout of paranoia was how to make drug trips flawlessly.
We need not impress but to just act intelligently.
People pleasing is indicative of a life lived recklessly.
Here in Africa, a counterculture of freedom continues to steadily emerge.
Adventure is the point where love and liberty converge.
This variety of Bantu is not fazed by rhetoric.
Existence is eternal and love is necessarily hedonic.
This clan nursed on revolt is always beckoning.
A conscious soul will brave whatever reckoning.
Once upon a time, man came back from the moon,
Hopeless Jean Valijean had to get the spoons.
That Christians should forgive is the elephant in the room,
He died with his bomb and didn't hear his ultimate boom.
One way or another, the prophecy will be fulfilled.
She builds her personality on what they conceal;
Offloads in gossip what they reveal.
Oddly enough, to covet is also to steal.
Bliss is our crown and contentment is the seal.
Men like to dominate and our ladies have to heal.
Life is of course the most interesting reel.
I must lead my cult of rebellion with zeal.
Life is an uncertain wager and we have to deal.
